MADIUN - The Government of Madiun City, East Java has again opened a COVID-19 vaccination service outlet to increase the achievement of giving three doses of vaccines or boosters for residents in the local area.

Mayor of Madiun Maidi said a vaccine service booth was opened in Taman Sumber Wangi in the Pahlawan Street Center (PSC) area. The location was chosen to make it easier for residents to access it.

"We will continue to carry out vaccinations. We will continue to provide services. Vaccines in Madiun City are not difficult," said Maidi, quoted by Antara, Thursday, March 24.

As planned, the vaccine booth will be opened from March 24 to April 2, 2022. However, the schedule can be increased according to public interest.

Meanwhile, the service is opened twice a day. Besides morning starting at 08.00-11.00 WIB, it is also open in the afternoon starting at 15.00-18.00 WIB.

Not only residents who have an ID card for Madiun City, the vaccine booth service also applies to all Indonesian citizens. Residents outside the area can also take advantage of the vaccination service.

Not only complete doses, namely doses one and two, the vaccine outlets also serve a third or booster dose. Both for the general public and the elderly.

Maidi added that the provision of vaccine outlets aims to increase vaccine achievements in Madiun City, especially booster vaccines. According to the data, as of Thursday (24/3/2022) the total vaccine achievement for dose one was 180,870 people or 116.71 percent.

Meanwhile, the second dose reached 166,169 people or 107.23 percent. And the achievement of booster vaccination is still minimal, which only reached 35,125 people or 22.67 percent. Not surprisingly, the Madiun City Government continues to boost vaccinations to boost performance, especially the third dose.

He targets the achievement of the third dose of vaccination to reach 50 percent before Eid. He hopes that the people of Madiun City are protected to the maximum so that the transmission of COVID-19 can be suppressed.

"Vaccination does not prevent someone from getting infected. However, it can minimize the risk if exposed. This is important, especially for vulnerable ages such as the elderly," he said.

Therefore, vaccination of the elderly also continues to be optimized. The achievement of elderly vaccinations currently reaches 75.45 percent for the 1st dose and 69.39 percent for the second dose. Meanwhile, the achievement of booster vaccines for the elderly has only reached 20 percent.

"To fight COVID-19, we need protection from the inside out. External protection is with the discipline of health protocols. Meanwhile, internal protection is with vaccines," he added.

In addition, Madiun City is currently a tourist destination. Many people from out of town came. Therefore, the Mayor wants the people of Madiun City to be protected to the maximum.

In addition to getting the vaccine immediately, he also asked the public to always be disciplined in health protocols. The hope is that people can continue to carry out their activities as usual but remain healthy and not infected. Thus, the economy continues to run but COVID-19 is increasingly suppressed.

According to data from the local health office, the cumulative number of COVID-19 cases in Madiun City as of Thursday was 10,029 with a total of 9,392 patients who had recovered and 543 patients who died.

Currently, there are 94 people with COVID-19 in Madiun City, with details of 19 undergoing treatment, 74 people doing self-isolation, and one undergoing quarantine in an integrated isolation facility.

The number of new confirmations on Thursday (24/3) recorded 14 people, 34 people recovered, and zero deaths.
