President Jokowi Accompanied By Defense Minister Prabowo Inaugurates Poltekhan In Atambua NTT

BELU - President Joko Widodo accompanied by the Minister of Defense (Menhan) Prabowo Subianto inaugurated the Defense Polytechnic Campus (Poltekhan) dr. Aloysius Benedict Mboi, MPH in Atambua, Belu Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

President Jokowi hopes that Ben Mboi Polytechnic can be a place to learn and improve the skills of young people, especially at the Atambua and Timor Leste borders.

"HR development is the foundation for advanced Indonesia, therefore education services must be spread evenly throughout the country," said President Jokowi, quoted from a written statement from the Public Relations Bureau of the Secretariat General of the Ministry of Defense, Thursday, March 24.

President Jokowi also emphasized that education must be accessible to all people without exception, both in border areas to the outer islands.

"Education is the key to changing the quality of society to help get out of poverty and with education and skills it can be a provision in obtaining decent jobs so that it can improve welfare and improve the regional economy," he added.

Meanwhile, Defense Minister Prabowo explained that the Ben Mboi Polytechnic Campus is the first campus in Belu Regency which is expected to produce young generations in border areas who are ready to build a better future.

Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto explained, Ben Mboi Belu Polytechnic was built on an area of 141 hectares, and has a total of 175 student cadets consisting of 79 boys and 96 girls. Teaching and learning activities at this polytechnic have started since August 30, 2021.

"70 percent of the cadets come from NTT and 30 percent from various provinces outside NTT," said Defense Minister Prabowo.

There are also 47 teaching lecturers with seven study programs, including: Dry Land Cultivation Study Program, Plantation Plant Cultivation Study Program, Livestock Cultivation Study Program, Capture Fisheries Study Program, Marine or Fishery Product Processing Study Program, Ship Engineering Study Program, and Marine Product Processing Study Program. Fish cultivation. The study period will be taken for three years

Defense Minister Prabowo also conveyed that lecture collaborations had been established with 25 institutions from universities and the Industrial World Business World (DUDI) throughout Indonesia.

Currently the campus has a capacity of 175 students, and it is planned to build additional barracks and classes so that later it has a capacity of 525 students.
