JAKARTA - The polemic between the Taman Ismail Marzuki Care Artist Forum (FSPTIM) and the DKI Provincial Government and PT Jakarta Propertindo in the revitalization of Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM) has re-emerged.

In the past, before it was built, FSPTIM was worried about the commercialization of TIM after it was revitalized. This issue has become the attention of the DPR RI. Then, the DKI Provincial Government promised not to commercialize TIM.

Now, with construction nearing completion, this group of artists complains that the performing arts building renovated by Jakpro does not match the needs and desires of the artists.

This complaint was submitted to the PDIP faction of the DKI DPRD. A member of the PDIP faction, Jhonny Simanjuntak, said that the protests by the artists were caused because their aspirations were ignored by Jakpro, who carried out this revitalization.

"Artists complain that they are not included in the revitalization of TIM. Indeed, there was a group discussion forum between artists and Jakpro, but the results of this forum were not implemented. Now, the physical development and contents are not in accordance with the wishes of the artists," said Jhonny when contacted by VOI, Wednesday. , March 23.

Based on the artists' complaints, Jhonny revealed that the lighting, acoustics, and audience seating systems at the Graha Bhakti Budaya (GBB) performance building which was renovated by Jakpro did not support the theatrical performance.

"For example, in the theater there are up to a thousand seats. What are you trying to do? It's more of a pop art activity. It should have a capacity of 600 so that there is closeness between the audience and the theatrical performance itself. Then about the lighting, sound system, regarding the acoustics, it is not in accordance with theatrical art. This is because artists are not included," said Jhonny.

In addition, the artists also requested that the operational management of TIM, which will have been revitalized, not be handed over to the DKI Provincial Government and Jakpro, but to the regional public service agency (BLUD).

"The artist who cares about TIM hopes that management will not be completely left to the provincial government because it is not connected. Their suggestion is that there is a BLUD that provides public services," said Jhonny.

Therefore, Jhonny said the PDIP Faction would summon Jakpro to follow up on complaints from these artists in the near future.
