Vice President Ma'ruf Amin Says Government Opens Possibility Of Booster Vaccine As A Requirement For Homecoming

BANDUNG - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin said that the government had opened the possibility of a third dose of COVID-19 (booster) vaccination as a condition for people to go home during the 2022 Eid holiday season.

"Later, we want to use the booster as a condition if later people want to go home," said Vice President Ma'ruf Amin in Bandung, Antara, Tuesday, March 22.

According to the Vice President, apart from two complete vaccinations, the public is also asked to immediately carry out booster vaccinations.

"So that way, there is no need for any kind of PCR, or antigen. This is if there are no spikes, if the current situation continues to slop," added the Vice President.

The Vice President assessed that the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia had begun to decline in general. "Think it's almost under control and everything has been opened and there's even no quarantine anymore, so that places of worship have started to be relaxed and there's already a fatwa from the Indonesian Ulema Council to be able to hold worship as usual," said the vice president.

However, the Vice President asked that the implementation of worship must still adhere to health protocols, such as using masks, especially and washing hands.

"This vaccination is important because to (achieve) community immunity, one of the important factors is vaccination. Then the elderly will continue to be encouraged, also for those who have only had one vaccine before the month of Ramadan, 70 percent of them must be vaccinated," added the Vice President. .

Based on data from the COVID-19 Task Force as of March 22, 2022, the total number of confirmed positive cases in Indonesia increased by 7,464 cases bringing the total cases to 5,974,646. Meanwhile, active cases of COVID-19 in Indonesia reached 181,155 cases.

The recovered cases also increased by 29,084 bringing the total to 5,639,029 while the number of dead patients increased by 170 to a total of 154,062 since the COVID-19 pandemic hit Indonesia in March 2020.

As for the vaccinations carried out, the government has injected 194,906,900 doses of the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine in Indonesia, the second dose that has been injected is 155,391,750 doses and the third vaccination has reached 17,565,378 doses.
