BATURAJA - PDAM Tirta Raja, Ogan Komering Ulu (OKU) Regency, South Sumatra, has taken firm action by cutting off the clean water network for customers who are more than three months in arrears in paying dues.
"Entering the fourth month of enforcement in 2022, there were 300 customer connections that were cut off due to more than three months in arrears of dues," said President Director of PDAM Tirta Raja Ogan Komering Ulu (OKU), Abi Kusno in Baturaja, Antara, Monday, March 21.
These hundreds of customers are spread across several sub-districts in OKU Regency such as Lubuk Raja, Lubuk Batang and East Baturaja.
He explained that the control that has been carried out since January 2022 is to reduce the number of arrears for PDAM Tirta Raja customers, which has now reached IDR 5 billion in value since 2021.
In order to control it, his party formed eight joint teams which were spread throughout the PDAM's working areas, especially in areas where the most customers were in arrears of more than three months.
Based on data, the arrears of PDAM Tirta Raja OKU customers, which amounted to Rp. 5 billion, came from 5,519 customers spread across several sub-districts in the region.
According to him, the largest arrears are in Baturaja City, East Baturaja District, which reaches more than 4,000 customers with a value of IDR 4 billion.
Then followed by Lubuk Batang Sub-district with 199 customers in arrears (Rp300 million) and Lubuk Raja Sub-district with 507 customers (over Rp200 million).
"We don't want this arrears to continue to grow so that the control of customers who are in arrears will continue to be carried out for the next few months," he said.
Therefore, Abi appealed to PDAM Tirta Raja OKU customers who feel they have been in arrears for three months or more to immediately pay off the arrears in order to avoid disconnecting the clean water connection.
"Payments can be made directly to the PDAM Tirta Raja office or through our partners such as the Post Office, Pay Post Agent, Indomaret, Alfamart or through Bank Sumsel Babel," he said.
