TANGERANG - Two workers on the Bunda Mulya Campus Development Project died after being hit by a two-tonne crane. The two people had the initials EA (23) and J (27).

Head of Public Relations of the Tangerang Metro Police, Kompol Abdul Rachim, said the incident occurred on the West Silk Road, Kunciran, Pinang, Tangerang City, Saturday 19 March, at 11.00 WIB.

He added, apart from EA and J, in the same incident, two other workers with the initials WP (20) and AM (27) were injured.

"A work accident that resulted in the death of 2 workers, one person is in critical condition and one person is slightly injured," Abdul said when confirmed, Monday, March 21.

Abdul explained that the work accident began when the four of them were working on the construction project of Bunda Mulya University on Jalan Sutera Barat.

At that time, EA and J were cutting iron at the project site. However, suddenly the iron rope of a crane carrying a container containing two tons of castings was severed and hit EA and J.

After being hit by the container containing the two-ton casting, EA and J died on the spot.

"Suddenly the crane bucket iron rope containing castings weighing two tons was severed and fell and hit two workers (EA and J) who were cutting iron. Instantly both victims died," he continued.

In addition to hitting EA and J, the container hit WP and AM, both people were injured.

"WP's condition is critical, then AM has minor injuries on his left shoulder," he explained.

Abdul said the two workers who died at that time were immediately rushed to a private hospital in Alam Sutera, Tangerang. Both were then transferred to the Tangerang District Hospital, Tangerang City.

"(EA and J) were taken to the Tangerang District Hospital," he said.
