MANDALIKA - The Governor of DKI Jakarta, Anies Baswedan, appreciated the implementation of the Mandalika MotoGP which he considered to be a success. According to him, this success not only makes Mandalika's name fragrant, but also Indonesia in the eyes of the world.

Anies was present to witness the MotoGP event at the Mandalika Circuit, Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), Sunday, March 20.

"The success of the Mandalika GP not only makes Lombok proud but also Indonesia. Everyone needs to support success because it brings pride to the country," said Anies through his personal Instagram account @aniesbaswedan.

According to him, the Mandalika MotoGP was successful because it was thanks to the work of all parties who ensured the smooth running of the world event. Not only the national team and racers, citizens from all over Indonesia also supported and watched the race.

"Highest appreciation to all parties who ensured the smooth running of the Mandalika GP event," he said, as reported by Antara.

"The heavy rain did not dampen the enthusiasm of the thousands of spectators in the stands of the Mandalika Circuit today. Thank God, I was able to visit Lombok again and witness history being made at the Mandalika MotoGP," he continued.

The former Minister of Education and Culture added that the success of the motorcycle racing world championship proved that Indonesia was able to host world-class events, especially in the field of sports, such as when it hosted the 2018 Asian Games.

"This kind of global activity makes Indonesia proud, echoes Indonesia's name on the world stage," said Anies.

The Mandalika MotoGP is the first grand prix racing event in Indonesia after 25 years. Indonesia last hosted in 1997 at the Sentul Circuit, Bogor.

Anies hopes that in the future similar activities can also be held well.

"In the future, continue to support so that similar activities can continue to be carried out properly, to give a message to the world that we are ready to rise again from the challenges of the pandemic," said Anies.
