BANDUNG - The Bandung Police Traffic Unit, West Java, is still implementing the odd-even system blocking at five toll gates in this area even though the Bandung City Government has revoked the regulation.

Head of Satlantas Polrestabes Bandung AKBP Ariek Indra Sentanu said the police continued to apply odd-even to carry out the Instructions of the Ministry of Home Affairs (Inmendagri) in handling COVID-19.

"Until now, the status of Bandung City is still PPKM level 3 so that the Bandung Traffic Police Unit continues to carry out according to the leadership's instructions," said Ariek at the Pasteur Toll Gate, Bandung City, as reported by Antara, Saturday, March 19.

According to Ariek, the five odd-even toll gates still apply, namely Pasteur, Pasirkoja, Kopo, Muhammad Toha, and Buahbatu toll gates. The scheme only applies on weekends to limit vehicle mobility.

The odd-even rule is still the same as before, which only applies to out-of-town vehicles, while vehicles from the Greater Bandung area are not subject to the odd-even system.

There are also vehicles from outside the city that will be reversed if the last digit of the vehicle number plate does not match the date on that day.

In addition to odd-even blocking, according to him, the police are still enforcing the closure of three roads in the city of Bandung, namely Jalan Dipatiukur, Jalan Lengkong Kecil, and Jalan Asia Afrika.

"Including three locations that often become crowds of people, we are closing roads," he said.

According to him, odd-even and road closures are enforced as long as PPKM in Bandung City is still at Level 3. Later he will conduct an evaluation with other agencies regarding the implementation of the scheme.

Previously, the Bandung City Government through the Department of Transportation had revoked the odd-even policy in this area. The regulation was abolished because it was in accordance with new travel regulations that loosened people's mobility.
