KENDARI - The Health Office of Kendari City, Southeast Sulawesi said as many as 10,280 doses of the Astrazeneca vaccine had expired or passed the expiration date.

"The expired vaccine, 10,280 doses of Azstrazeneca, has expired since February 28, 2022," said the Head of the Kendari Health Office, Rahminingrum, quoted by Antara, Thursday, March 17.

He said that since the expiration date of use, the vaccine is no longer used and stored in the warehouse.

The expired vaccines were distributed in 50 doses at the Health Office, 20 doses at Puskesmas, 1,720 doses at Bhayangkara Hospital, 2,870 doses at Ismoyo Hospital, 3,560 doses at the Kendari Police Clinic and 2,060 Lanal Clinics.

According to him, the large number of vaccines that have expired since February 28, 2022 is because the supply from the center is quite large while the allocation for use is only given to the TNI-Polri.

"Astrazeneca was distributed quite a lot at the time and the allocation for its use was actually for the TNI-Polri," he said.

His party has reported the data to the center through the smile application, but it has not received directions for destruction.

"We have reported the treatment for expired vaccines by application, then physically separated from vaccines that have not expired," he said.

Rahminingrum also said that currently the expired vaccine in Kendari City is only the Astrazeneca type, while other types of vaccines are still active and can be injected into the community.

"Currently, there are only two vaccine stocks in Kendari, the first is 6,688 doses of Sinovac and 3,072 doses of Pfizer," said Rahminingrum.
