Coordinating Minister For PMK Receives Daeng Majarre Title From Gowa Tradition

GOWA - Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (PMK) Muhadjir Effendy was given the title Daeng Majarre from Gowa customs at the Balla Lompoa Palace Museum, Gowa Regency, South Sulawesi.

The awarding of this customary title was carried out with the installation of a nibiring songkok by the Regent of Gowa Adnan Purrichta Ichsan and the awarding of badik by the Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo.

Regent Adnan said the awarding of the title was an honor for the Indigenous people of Gowa to him as a large family in Gowa Regency.

"The meaning of "Majarre" is to unite or strengthen, giving this name as a form to unite the cultural customs that exist in Gowa," he said as quoted by Antara, Thursday, March 17.

Adnan said the presence of the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture is a blessing in itself for Gowa Regency because it has provided thought assistance so that the name of this customary title was given.

On that occasion, Adnan explained about the history of the Balla Lompoa Museum, where this museum was previously the Office of the former Gowa Regent, which was later expanded during the reign of Syahrul Yasin Limpo.

Meanwhile, during the leadership of the late Ichsan Yasin Limpo, revitalization was carried out.

"Of course today we and the people of Gowa Regency are proud to continue what our predecessors have laid the foundation for," he said.

In addition, Adnan will continue to maintain the existence of Gowa Regency, which was known as a very powerful kingdom in the past. One way is to maintain customs and beautify the Balla Lompoa Museum area as one of the icons of Gowa Regency.

"We will continue to improve human resource development, because we believe that the wealth of an area is not determined by its natural resources but by its human resources," he said.

Meanwhile, Muhadjir Effendy was very grateful for the title given. According to him, this was not appropriate for him because he had not made a significant contribution to Gowa.

"We are very grateful for this gift, even though I feel it is not appropriate because it has not made a meaningful contribution to Gowa Regency," he said.

However, Muhadjir Effendy said that he greatly admired the Regent of Gowa because since he was appointed as Minister of Education, he has been very intense in communicating because he is called a regional head who has provided breakthroughs in the education sector.

"I am one of those who admire him because of his many breakthroughs in the education sector so he is very supportive. Most memorable is providing scholarships to a number of students to study in Indonesia and that is extraordinary because not many regional officials paid special attention to education at that time," said the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture. this.

He also appreciated the steps taken by the Gowa Regency government to continue to preserve noble values both before the time of Syahrul Yasin Limpo, the era of Ichsan Yasin Limpo, and the current Regent Adnan.

"This is a good activity to explore the noble values, hidden sites and then it's time to build capital for Gowa, South Sulawesi and Indonesia in the future," he said.
