House of Representatives Commission II: Budget For 2024 Elections Agreed At Rp86 Trillion

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of House of Representatives Commission II, Junimart Girsang, said that the budget for the 2024 elections had been agreed at IDR 86 trillion. Therefore, Junimart asked, the 2024 election budget does not need to be a polemic until it is linked to the issue of postponing the election.

"The budget for the 2024 election has been agreed at Commission II of the House of Representatives amounting to IDR 86 trillion", said Junimart, Thursday, March 17.

The budget agreement, he said, had been agreed between Commission II of the House of Representatives and the election organizers.

Furthermore, said Junimart, Commission II of the House of Representatives is waiting for a follow-up to the discussion of the 2024 election budget at the House of Representatives of Budget Agency.

"The House of Representatives Commission II has followed up in an informal meeting, I have communicated it to the Banggar Leaders of the House of Representatives", he said.

Commission II of the House of Representatives, continued Junimart, will also hold a Hearing Meeting (RDP) with the KPU (General Elections Commission)-Bawaslu (General Election Supervisory Agency) to evaluate the implementation of the 2021 Program and Budget on April 11, 2022.

Previously, it was reported that the House of Representatives will discuss the budget for the 2024 General Election (Pemilu) after the new commissioners of the General Elections Commission (KPU) and the Election Supervisory Body for the 2022-2027 period are sworn in.

The chairman of the House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, said that her institution was committed to ensuring that the stages and process of organizing the 2024 General Election could run as expected.

"Regarding the budget, the House of Representatives certainly commits so that the stages and process of holding the general election towards 2024 can run as we all hoped, working together with all elements of the nation", said Puan.

However, according to him, financial management related to the budget for the 2024 General Election will be better done after the commissioners of the KPU and Bawaslu for the 2022-2027 period are sworn in.

"Of course, it would be better if the plans and stages, as well as financial management in an accountable manner, would later be managed by members (KPU) and Bawaslu who have been sworn in for the next period", he said.
