Lampung Police Arrest Child Trafficking Suspect

BANDARLAMPUNG - The Task Force for Trafficking in Persons (TPPO) of the Ditreskrimum of the Lampung Police arrested Hospital (29) resident of Banjar Agung, Tulangbawang Barat, which is a suspect in child trafficking.

Head of Sub-directorate IV Renakta Polda Lampung AKBP Adi Sastri said the arrest of the suspect began with public information that there was trafficking in women who were employed as commercial sex workers.

"At that time the TPPO Task Force on February 19, 2022 had secured two women at a hotel in Bandar Lampung," he said in Bandarlampung, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, March 16.

He said the two women had the initials I and A. One of the women with the initials A was a minor, namely 15 years old who had been employed by the suspect RS.

When further examination was carried out, he said, based on the confessions of the two women who were detained, they were given a commission after serving a masher of Rp. 1 million per person. Meanwhile, the suspect in the hospital gets a profit of Rp. 500 thousand per person.

"Regarding this incident, we suspect that there has been a human trafficking incident as regulated in Article 2 paragraph 1 Juncto Article 17 of the Republic of Indonesia Law No. 21 of 2007 concerning the Eradication of the Crime of Trafficking in Persons," he said.

Adi added that the method used by the suspect was by providing and presenting women to be employed as commercial sex workers at a rate of Rp. 1.5 million per person.

The suspect in the hospital was able to provide this by communicating with his customers by sending photos of women.

"After the suspect sends a photo and matches it, the woman is sent according to the location agreement," he said.

During the arrest of the suspect, the TPPO Task Force secured evidence in the form of two hotel room keys, a hotel bill in Berliansyah's name, three cellphones, and IDR 3 million in cash.

In this case, the suspect was charged with Article 2 Paragraph 1 Juncto Article 17 of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 21 of 2007 with the threat of imprisonment for a minimum of three years and a maximum of 15 years.
