Trapped In The Bathroom When His House Caught Fire, A 12-year-old Boy In Cikarang Died From Running Out Of Oxygen

CIKARANG BARAT – Tragically, a girl with the initials NA (12) was reported to have died due to smoke trapped in her house in Jayaraga Village, RT05/07, Sukadanau Village, West Cikarang, Bekasi Regency.

Based on information, NA is the son of a member of the TNI initials BU (35). At the time of the incident the victim was in the bathroom.

The Head of West Cikarang Police, Teddy Hartanto, said the fire occurred on Tuesday, March 15, at around 7 a.m. Western Indonesia Time.

"Yes, that's right, this morning at 07.00 WIB the fire was successfully extinguished by local residents. Because the building is made of castings, the fire doesn't go anywhere." explained Kompol Teddy when contacted by VOI, Tuesday, March 15.

Teddy said the fire was caused by an electrical short in the water dispenser. The fire instantly spreads to the combustible material around it. The victim's parents tried to evacuate their child who was trapped in the bathroom.

“It was due to an electric short circuit, a short circuit from the water dispenser. The victim is in the bathroom. His parents had evacuated him, but as soon as he was taken to the hospital, the victim died.” Teddy explained.

When asked if the victim died from burns, Teddy replied that the victim died not from burns but from running out of oxygen. The victim, continued Teddy, the only child of the couple.

"Not because of burns, but because of the smoke from the fire. Only the victim's parents suffered burns during the rescue. He only has one child, yes the victim. And already buried." he concluded.
