JAKARTA - The West Jakarta Metro Police arrested an online motorcycle taxi driver (ojol) who splashed the head and face of his passenger with battery water (Accu) in the Kebon Jeruk area.
The motorcycle taxi driver with the initials BJ (61) was arrested at his residence in the Rawa Buaya area, Cengkareng, West Jakarta (West Jakarta).
"The perpetrator is an 'online driver' and the victim is a woman who is a former customer of his motorcycle taxi," said Kebon Jeruk Police Chief Kompol H Slamet Riyadi in a press statement received in Jakarta, Tuesday, March 15.
Slamet said that the watering of the battery was caused by the perpetrators not accepting the passenger whose initials MD (32) had stopped subscribing. In fact, MD has been a regular customer of BJ since 2000.
Out of frustration, on Wednesday 9 March, BJ approached MD to his workplace because he did not accept being dismissed unilaterally. However, MD refused to be found.
The perpetrator had prepared battery water while waiting for the MD near his office in the South Kedoya area.
Exactly at 07.25 WIB, BJ approached MD who was walking and immediately doused his head with battery water.
"The perpetrator fled immediately after doing the watering," said Slamet.
With wounds on his face due to being splashed with battery water, MD reported the incident to the Kebon Jeruk Police. Based on the report, the police immediately arrested BJ at his home at 20.00 WIB.
The police also confiscated some evidence in the form of clothes and a motorbike used by the perpetrators.
"In order to be held accountable for his actions, the perpetrators are subject to Article 351 of the Criminal Code concerning persecution with the threat of a sentence of more than five years," said the Kebon Jeruk police chief.
