MAKASSAR - Head of the People's Welfare Bureau (Kesra) of South Sulawesi Muhammad Hasim said the Makassar 99 Dome Mosque had been used for the 5 daily prayers.

"Alhamdulillah, it's on. Anyway, the five prayer times are already on standby for use," he said in Makassar, as reported by Antara, Monday, March 14.

Four imams and two muezzins will oversee the implementation of the five daily prayers at the newest icon of Makassar City, South Sulawesi. They were recruited through a competition of imams and muezzins with a minimum of 15 juz memorizing the Qur'an.

"These four imams are planned to live in the mosque to make it easier for the imams and muezzins to perform the 5 daily prayers," he said.

Hasim said that at the beginning of the operation of the 99 Dome Mosque it was not without problems, a number of complaints were submitted by residents who wanted to perform ablution outside prayer times and urinate in the mosque's toilet.

However, in water management, it is still functioned in a limited way because it still has to be addressed by the PDAM. The 99 Dome Mosque was first used at the time of the midday prayer, Saturday, March 12.

"So it happened that the problem was the water, but it was deliberately turned off because the men's toilet had problems and the water ran out quickly. Now it's back to normal because it has been communicated with the PDAM," he said.

Meanwhile, the Governor of South Sulawesi Andi Sudirman Sulaiman hoped that the use of the 99 Dome Mosque would be a step to further strengthen the faith of the Muslims of South Sulawesi to worship Allah Subhanahu wa Taala.

Moreover, the permanent mosque imams and muezzins who are selected by the selection committee have certain conditions including free radical/terrorism affiliation, attitude, memorizing at least 15 juz for the imam, reading the Koran and others.

"Hopefully in the future more and more Islamic syiar activities can be carried out," said Andi Sudirman.

The 99 Dome Mosque, which leaves 20 percent for mosque completion, can accommodate around 3,800-5000 worshipers in the mosque, while the courtyard of the mosque can accommodate up to 12,000 worshippers.
