Government Will Expand Visa On Arrival In Jakarta And Surabaya

JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said the government would expand the visa on arrival (VOA) policy or visa visits to airports other than Bali.

Luhut said that the areas that will implement VoA in the near future are Jakarta and Surabaya. The targets are countries that have great tourism potential and also the G20 countries.

"The government will apply visa on arrival at several other airports, such as Jakarta and Surabaya," Luhut said in a virtual press conference, Monday, March 14.

According to Luhut, the implementation of VOA in Bali is able to encourage an increase in incoming foreign tourists, in line with the quarantine-free policy currently being implemented in Bali.

"Since the opening of visa on arrival on March 7, it can be informed that the total arrival of PPLN with Visa on Arrival is 449 pax with a total PNBP of 224 million rupiah.

For information, the Directorate General of Immigration at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham) of the Republic of Indonesia issued a regulation regarding the opening of a special tourist visa on arrival (VOA) service for 23 countries.

The countries in question are Australia, the United States of America, the Netherlands, Brunei Darussalam, the Philippines and the United Kingdom. Then there are Italy, Japan, Germany, Cambodia, Canada, South Korea, Laos and Malaysia. In addition there are Myanmar, France, Qatar, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand, Turkey, United Arab Emirates and finally Vietnam.

Currently, VOA special tourism services can only be obtained by foreign subjects if they enter Indonesian territory through the Immigration Checkpoint (TPI) at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, Bali.
