Confirming That There Was A Meeting, PDIP Said There Was A Message From Puan Maharani To The KPU-Bawaslu Commissioner

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of Commission II of the DPR from the PDIP faction, Junimart Girsang, confirmed that there was a meeting between the KPU commissioners and Bawaslu who were ratified for the 2022-2027 period with the Chair of the Indonesian Parliament, Puan Maharani.

According to him, this meeting is just a normal gathering for the purpose of introducing the elected KPU-Bawaslu members.

In fact, this meeting was held before the KPU-Bawaslu commissioner visited the office of the Deputy Chair of the DPR who is also the General Chair of the PKB Muhaimin Iskandar or Cak Imin.

"The meeting is an ordinary friendly meeting, an introduction by the elected KPU-Bawaslu commissioner and the chairman of the DPR RI. I also accompanied Mrs. Puan," said Junimart, Monday, March 14.

The PDIP politician then revealed what was discussed at the meeting held on Thursday, March 10, yesterday. Junimart said Puan gave a special message to the KPU-Bawaslu commissioners.

"The chairwoman advised that the KPU-Bawaslu election organizer must carry out the task of guarding democracy according to the rules and work objectively. Their work must be upright. The people are waiting for the results of the work of the ladies and gentlemen from the time the president was inaugurated until 2027," he said.

Junimart denied that the meeting involved discussing the postponement of the 2024 General Election. He ensured that the KPU commissioners and Bawaslu were only familiar with the leaders of the Indonesian House of Representatives.

"There are ordinary congratulations and introductions. The topics presented in the hearing are for the KPU and Bawaslu for the 2022-2027 period to work based on the constitution and the Election Law," he explained.

In the hearing, added Junimart, the DPR leadership also advised the KPU and Bawaslu to work professionally, independently, accountable and transparently.

"In the hearing it was also conveyed by 7 Elected KPU Member Candidates and 5 Elected Bawaslu Members that KPU and Bawaslu are election management institutions whose character is service, namely serving voters in exercising their rights and serving election participants. Therefore, for the service to run effectively, it is hoped that strategic communication methods are used," he concluded.

Previously, the Deputy Chairman of the DPR for Coordination of Finance, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, clarified the meeting between Cak Imin and the KPU-Bawaslu. Dasco said that the election organizer's visit was to the DPR leadership to stay in touch and there was no hidden agenda.

"I need clarification that the members of the KPU and the Bawaslu are not secretive but openly conduct friendships," said Dasco at the Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Monday, March 14.

In fact, Dasco said, the KPU-Bawaslu-elected commissioner had already spoken to the chairman of the DPR, Puan Maharani and herself.

"The gathering was not carried out only to Cak Imin, to Mbak Puan to other DPR leadership representatives, including myself," he continued.
