JAKARTA - Deputy Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit (Reskrim) of the West Jakarta Metro Police Kompol Niko Purba led a sudden inspection (sidak) to a number of markets where it was suspected that there was hoarding of basic necessities, especially cooking oil.

"Our members from the Special Criminal Unit massively check cooking oil stocks in markets since there is a shortage of cooking oil on the market," said Kompol Niko when confirmed by VOI, Monday, March 14.

This inspection is aimed at checking prices and cooking oil stocks. The first location that the joint officers visited was the West Tomang Market or Kopro Market.

In this market, the first shop he visited was the basic food shop Sunardi. There Kompol Niko and his staff checked the 1 liter and 2 liter packaged cooking oil.

According to Agus, one of the shop owners said that the stock of cooking oil was still safe in his mikik shop.

"We checked the availability of cooking oil and prices at the Tanjung Duren Kopro Market. We tried to do random sampling. We asked several shops," he said.

The price of cooking oil in this market is sold per 1 liter at a price of Rp. 14 thousand, the price per 2 liters is Rp. 28 thousand.

Furthermore, members of the Special Criminal (Krimsus) of the West Jakarta Metro Police also visited Yanto's shop at Kopro Market.

"For the price, it still follows the government's price regulation," Kompo Niko added.

The traders also complained about the scarcity of cooking oil to the police.

"There are several brands, which are complained about, there are some that are a bit sluggish. However, this can still meet the needs of the community," he said.

The police have confirmed that they will continue to patrol to check the availability of cooking oil in traditional markets in the West Jakarta area.

"If there are indications of hoarding of groceries, the West Jakarta Metro Police will immediately follow up," he said.
