JAKARTA - Deputy Chairperson of MUI Marsudi Syuhud assessed that the transfer of the National Capital City (IKN) of the Archipelago from Jakarta to East Kalimantan was for the common good, so that the community was asked to support this step.

"For me, because the task of the state is to build, in fact it is the state's business to build the Nusantara IKN in East Kalimantan. Because the goal is for the benefit of all of us, we must support it," said Marsudi in a written statement received in Jakarta, reported by Antara, Monday, 14 March.

Marsudi explains in Fiqh Daulah or state fiqh, when a policy has been decided by the government and is considered by consensus for the benefit of the community, the people must support it.

One of the conditions for the transfer of this IKN is to meet the criteria for the benefit of all. According to Marsudi, the new city will be built without forgetting the development of Jakarta.

He gave the example of Prophet Muhammad SAW who emigrated from Mecca to Medina. At that time, he said, the Messenger of Allah moved and built the city of Medina with his companions without forgetting Mecca which was his hometown.

"This means that as a nation, we must continue to love DKI Jakarta and at the same time love Kalimantan as a new IKN. That is the example shown by the Messenger of Allah," said Marsudi.

Responding to the fact that there are still groups who have not accepted the Nusantara IKN development program, according to Marsudi, the government should invite them to have a dialogue and be given the best possible explanation.

The community, he said, certainly has considerations but on the other hand the government has also considered various aspects before finally deciding to move IKN to East Kalimantan.

"All considerations put forward by the government so far have been accepted. Among other things, to reduce the burden on the city of Jakarta, it will be easier to revamp the city of Batavia without reducing its advantages as an economic center," he said.

At the same time, according to him, this step is beneficial in creating equitable distribution of economic development outside Java. So that there is an effect of spreading progress, prosperity, and welfare which has been mostly concentrated on the island of Java.

"Another consideration is the geographical location of Kalimantan which is ideal because it is in the middle of Indonesia and geologically has minimal potential for disasters," he said.
