Jokowi Stays At IKN With A Simple Tent, But It's Already Fogged And Sprinkled With Salt To Dispel Snakes

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has carried out the process of unifying land and water in the Kilometer Zero Point Area of the National Capital (IKN) of Nusantara in East Kalimantan today, Monday, March 14.

Furthermore, Jokowi is planned to stay overnight in the area with several parties including the Governor of East Kalimantan, Isran Noor, and other community leaders. Head of the Presidential Secretariat, Heru Budi Hartono, said Jokowi would stay in a simple tent.

"There are several readiness issues related to staying at IKN. Of course, it is and Mr. President we have prepared a simple tent", Heru said as quoted from the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube on Monday, March 14.

Even so, President Jokowi's security remains a priority. Later the Pangdam and Kapolda East Kalimantan will accompany the overnight stay in the IKN area.

After spending the night, President Jokowi will carry out various other activities on Tuesday, March 15. One of them, reviewing several reforestation points that have been prepared by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry.

Meanwhile, the Commander of Military Area Command VI Mulawarman, Major General Teguh Pujo Rumekso said all possibilities had been anticipated. Even so, he explained that erratic weather changes such as rain could be a challenge.

However, Teguh hopes that during President Jokowi's visit to IKN Nusantara, the weather can be sunny so that it will not cause problems. "The most vulnerable situation is erratic weather changes such as rain. We hope that during activities at IKN, the weather can be sunny so activities can run smoothly", he said.

"We guarantee with Mr. Kapolda that the visit can run smoothly and safely until Mr. President returns to Jakarta", added Teguh.

Complementing the Military Commander Major General Teguh Pujo, the Commander of Presidential Guard, Major General TNI Tri Budi Utomo, said various preparations had been made. In fact, the participants who will stay with President Jokowi at IKN will first be tested for swab tests to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

"So we still carry out the health protocol, even though the place is in a forest area where the air is also sufficient, but it has become a standard for us, anyone who docks around the President must carry out a health protocol", he said on the same occasion.

Not only that, fogging or fumigation to prevent malaria has also been carried out. "Then other security, around the tent, especially around the VVIP, we have spread salt and so on to anticipate the presence of reptiles", said Budi.

"And we have prepared anti-snake venom which will be useful. However, hopefully, it will not be used and we are all safe", he concluded.
