JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) gave several directions to governors throughout Indonesia. One of the things that were conveyed was that the government did not intend to leave DKI Jakarta, which is now led by Anies Baswedan, even though the capital was moved to the National Capital City (IKN) of Nusantara.

"I will explain again about matters related to the national capital. Moving to the capital city does not mean we want to leave DKI Jakarta. Not at all", said Jokowi as quoted from his official Instagram account @jokowi, Monday, March 14.

Jokowi explained that so far, 58 percent of the country's economic GDP has been in Java and the magnet is in DKI Jakarta.

In addition, 56 percent of the Indonesian population is concentrated on the island of Java, creating economic and infrastructure inequality. So, with the construction of the Capital of the Archipelago, it is hoped that this problem can be solved.

Furthermore, in front of the governors, Jokowi also emphasized that this new capital city will become a city with international standards and facilities.

"With the construction of the Capital of the Archipelago, Indonesia will have a city with international standards that has international standard facilities as well", said the former Governor of DKI Jakarta.

For information, President Jokowi delivered this directive in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan on Sunday, March 13 yesterday. This activity is a series of visits to IKN Nusantara.

Meanwhile, today, Monday, March 14, President Jokowi and his entourage visited the Point 0 Kilometer IKN area in North Penajam Paser Regency, East Kalimantan.

At that location, the President will carry out a procession of unification of the land and water of the archipelago. Head of the Presidential Secretariat, Heru Budi Hartono, explained that the land and water had previously been brought by governors from each province.

"The process is for the governors to bring land and water from each region where they are taken from location points which of course are by their respective local wisdom and culture. Later there the governors will hand it over to the President and the President. We will pour it into the barrel that we have prepared to become one of 34 provinces", said Heru.

"There, on Monday morning, together with the governors and local community leaders, there will be a procession where the point is we pray and of course ask Allah, so that this great program can run well and of course,e all elements of society can support it", he added.
