JAYAPURA - Papua Police Chief Inspector General Mathius Fakhiri asked the company to stop the construction of base transceiver stations (BTS), especially in areas prone to security disturbances.

The BTS construction was stopped after the massacre of employees of PT Palapa Timur Telematika (PTT) in the interior of Beoga District, Puncak Regency, Wednesday, March 2.

"Indeed, I have ordered to stop the construction of BTS in a number of areas that are prone to security disturbances," said Inspector General Fakhiri, quoted by ANtara, in Jayapura, Sunday, March 13.

He admitted that there are several areas in Papua that are prone to security disturbances. Besides Puncak Regency, there are also several regions, namely the Bintang Mountains Regency, Yahukimo, Puncak Jaya, Intan Jaya, and Nduga Regency.

The Kapolda hopes that the companies working on the construction, not just BTS, should inform the security forces of their whereabouts.

"Don't come secretly, yes, if during the work it is safe. However, if on the contrary, there is a security disturbance that can cause fatalities," said Fakhiri.

It is also hoped that this will be applied by the companies that carry out development in Papua.

If the security forces know of their whereabouts, according to him, there are indications of increasing security problems, they can immediately determine steps to secure their employees. KKB on Wednesday, March 2, carried out a massacre of PTT employees, killing eight people.

The incident came to light on Thursday, March 3 after an employee who survived the incident named Nelson Sarira informed of the incident. In fact, it was also recorded on CCTV in BTS3.

Evacuation of Nelson on Saturday. March 5, while the bodies of eight employees of PT Palapa Timur Telematika can only be carried out on Monday, March 7th.
