MADIUN - The government of Saudi Arabia has lifted the restrictions on the COVID-19 pandemic. A total of 180 hajj candidates from Madiun City, East Java are confirmed to be ready to go to the Holy Land this year regarding this policy.

The Head of the Hajj and Umrah Organizing Section of the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) of Madiun City, Koirul Kamami, said that the prospective hajj pilgrims had failed to leave for two years.

"The Hajj candidates who are ready to leave are Hajj candidates from Madiun City, whose departure has been postponed twice in a row in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic," said Kamami in Madiun, Saturday, March 12, quoted from Antara.

According to him, this number was reduced from the previous quota of 183 hajj candidates for a number of reasons, such as some who died and resigned.

Although ready to go, his party is still waiting for confirmation on the implementation of the Hajj 1443 Hijri/2022 AD from the central government and Saudi Arabia, even though the implementation of the Umrah pilgrimage has been opened.

The Ministry of Religion is currently, he said, starting to prepare for the implementation of Hajj services while waiting for the certainty of Saudi Arabia's policy regarding the implementation of the pilgrimage.

He added that under current conditions, there are three options for departing for Hajj in the midst of a pandemic. First, the candidates for Hajj are dispatched according to their quota if there are no problems.

Second, if it is not possible, then there is a limitation by reducing the number of hajj candidates to be dispatched, while the third option is no departure if the situation is deemed dangerous.

"The policy for the departure of Hajj candidates is absolutely in the Government of Saudi Arabia," he said.
