CIANJUR - The Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) in Cianjur, West Java, admitted that the demand for fogging and spraying of disinfectants has been increasing since the last two weeks.
PMI Cianjur secretary Heri Hidayat said that after receiving fooging equipment from the Central PMI, his party opened services for people in various areas, especially those affected by dengue fever and spraying disinfectants.
"Over the past two weeks, we have received many requests for fooging from various regions, especially cases of dengue fever, starting from Cianjur, Karangtengah sub-districts and several sub-districts with high case findings," he said in Cianjur, Antara, Friday, March 11.
He explained that for fooging and spraying disinfectants, his party dispatched 25 volunteers who were also tasked with socializing about 3M so that residents would avoid dengue fever.
Every day, Heri said, his party received requests that were served in the order that they applied for spraying in writing starting from the village to the RT/RW level.
"For one day, we can serve four to six spraying points," he said.
His party noted that throughout January 2022, there were 14 cases of DHF that occurred in Cianjur with one person dying.
To suppress dengue cases, his party not only carried out fooging, but also intensified socialization so that residents could further increase 3M in their respective neighborhoods.
"Fmogging only kills adult mosquitoes, while to kill larvae we still urge residents to be diligent in cleaning the surrounding environment, especially from mosquito nests such as puddles, reservoirs and objects that can be used as breeding grounds for mosquitoes," he said.
As for spraying disinfectants, he added, many come from schools, government and private offices which are served alternately every day.
