KUPANG - The Kupang City COVID-19 Task Force, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) confirmed that the inauguration ceremony for the NTT Democratic Regional Leadership Council (DPD) Chairman, Leo Lelo, which was held at a hotel in Kupang City did not get permission from the COVID-19 Task Force.

"So we will dissolve this because it can cause new cases of COVID-19 in Kupang City," said Secretary of the Kupang City COVID-19 Task Force Ernest Ludji in Kupang, Antara, Friday, March 11.

There are two groups that have applied to organize crowd-based activities, namely the NTT Democratic Party and sympathizers of the former chairman of the NTT Democratic DPD Jefri Riwu Koreh who feel that the activity violates health protocols.

Ernest said that his party did not allow the two activities to be held because it caused a crowd, especially amid the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in Kupang City. In the last week the cases reached 2,000.

"We have sent letters to both parties and the contents do not allow this activity and today we came to directly check and coordinate with the chairman of the inauguration activity committee," he said.

Meanwhile, the spokesman for the inauguration committee for the Chair of the Democratic DPD NTT Sebastian Edo admitted that his party had obtained direct permission from the provincial COVID-19 Task Force.

"We have sent a letter of recommendation to the provincial COVID-19 Task Force, and the permit has been issued so that we carry out this activity," he added.

Meanwhile, monitoring of demonstrations against the mass supporters of the former chairman of the Democratic DPD NTT Jefri Riwu Kore is still ongoing. They considered that the inauguration was invalid, besides that the implementation of the inauguration also violated the COVID-19 process.
