The Persecution Of Kiai In Indramayu Called Police Because Of Different Understanding

BANDUNG - Head of Public Relations of the West Java Police, Kombes Ibrahim Tompo, said the perpetrators of the persecution of kiai in Indramayu Regency, West Java, carried out the heinous act because they were suspected of having a different understanding from the victim.

According to him, the perpetrator with the initials SR (33) did not like the activities of Kiai Farid as the Chairperson of the Jam'iyyah Ahlith Tarekat Al Mu'tabarah An Nahdliyyah. Based on the examination, Ibrahim said the perpetrator was suspected of having a different sect from the victim.

"Based on the results of the examination and information from the public, the suspect has a different understanding, so he doesn't like the implementation of the wirid (Kyai Farid's activities)," said Ibrahim at the West Java Police, Bandung City, as reported by Antara, Thursday, March 10.

The perpetrators carried out the persecution by slashing KH Farid Asr Waddahr along with his wife and students at the Islamic Boarding School in Tegalmulya Village, Krangkeng District, Indramayu Regency, on Tuesday (8/3) night.

Previously, said Ibrahim, Kiai Farid often held remembrance activities in his pesantren environment at night and was attended by many of his congregation.

Apart from being disturbed, according to Ibrahim, the perpetrators also have a different view of the kiai's activities, which of course is a wrong assumption.

"It was understood by him as pesugihan, it was a wrong understanding by the suspect," said Ibrahim.

Currently, Kiai Farid and other victims are undergoing treatment at the hospital due to their injuries. Meanwhile, the perpetrators of SR were charged with Article 338 and Article 351 of the Criminal Code with a penalty of 15 years in prison.

Regarding the abuse case, the police also secured a number of evidences in the form of a sickle that was allegedly used by SR to torture three victims, as well as a number of clothes that were stained with blood.
