PADANG - The Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) representative of West Sumatra found payment of honorariums that did not comply with the provisions of up to hundreds of millions at the West Sumatra General Elections Commission (KPU).

"The findings were revealed during an inspection with a specific objective for the 2021 budget", said the Head of the BPK representing West Sumatra, Yusnadewi, in Padang on Thursday, March 10.

She conveyed this at the Media Workshop on the results of the West Sumatra BPK examination in the second semester of 2021.

According to her, BPK has the authority to carry out audits with specific objectives to assess compliance with financial management and accountability at the West Sumatra KPU.

"Referring to Law No. 15 of 2006 the BPK is tasked with examining financial management and state financial responsibilities carried out by the central government, regional governments, state institutions that manage state finances", she said.

In line with that, the Head of the West Sumatra II Sub-auditorate of the Supreme Audit Agency, Ali Thoyibi, stated that the findings revealed in the form of payment of honorarium for the working group team, honorarium for resource persons and moderators that did not comply with the provisions of IDR 196.50 million.

"In the KPU rules, an official may only receive an honorarium as a resource person a maximum of three times a month, this is something that has been experimented with up to five times a month, in the end, it became a finding", he said.

Not only that, but BPK also found that there was an overpayment of fuel spending and transportation activities worth IDR 165.23 million.

In addition to the KPU, the West Sumatra BPK also found an overpayment for official travel outside the region of IDR 302.05 million to the W Sumatra Bawaslu.

Then it was also found that there was an overpayment of the honorarium for the sub-district/village election supervisory committee at the General Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) of regency and city in the amount of IDR 784.30 million.

He said all overpayments and those that did not comply with the provisions had to be returned to the state treasury.

BPK has made recommendations on this matter and we will continue to follow up on whether the recommendations have been implemented.

"If the recommendations given are not implemented, sanctions will be imposed", he said.
