Anies Appeals PTUN's Decision, Plaintiff: Mr. Anies Doesn't Empathize With Traumatized Residents Become Flood Victims

JAKARTA - The attorney for the plaintiff who became a victim of the Jakarta flood, Francine Widjojo regretted the move by the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan to appeal against the decision of the State Administrative Court (PTUN) which ordered the dredging of the Mampang River to be complete.

"We regret the appeal of the DKI Jakarta Governor who seems unwilling to accept the fact that flood control is not yet serious," said the plaintiff's attorney, Francine Widjojo in a press statement in Jakarta, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, March 9.

Francine, who is the representative of the solidarity advocacy team for flood victims, said the Governor of DKI Jakarta filed an appeal against the residents according to the PTUN 205/G/TF/2021/PTUN.JKT case.

In its decision, the DKI Jakarta Administrative Court ordered the Governor of DKI Jakarta to dredge the Mampang River so that it was completely finished in Pondok Jaya and the anointing of the Mampang River in Pela Mampang Village.

"Pak Anies has no empathy for his residents who are traumatized by being victims of the DKI Jakarta floods," said Francine Widjojo.

According to him, the lawsuit was filed by residents because the Governor of DKI Jakarta did not carry out the obligation to control flooding through river normalization.

The river normalization, he said, is based on the RPJMN, RPJMD DKI Jakarta, and the 2030 DKI Jakarta Regional Spatial Plan (RTRW), especially in Mampang River, Krukut River, and Cipinang River.

As a result, he added, the plaintiffs experienced the biggest and worst flooding on 19-21 February 2021 with a flood height of about two meters.

"Mr. Anies seems to have forgotten that flood control is a routine work of the Governor of DKI Jakarta, which doesn't need to be reminded, let alone being sued by citizens by going through a long procedure," he said.

"Now people are being dragged deeper into the court process, even though the facts are clear and clear. People just want the Governor and his staff to be serious about dealing with flooding," added Francine.
