JAKARTA - The flood control project at the DKI Jakarta Water Resources Service called the 942-DV Project, both for flood control during the rainy season and tidal flooding, is experiencing cost constraints because the COVID-19 pandemic has not been completed.

"The 942-DV flood control project is to revitalize and repair nine polders, four reservoirs, and two rivers. However, there are limited funds, due to COVID-19, so not everything can be done," said Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta, Ahmad Riza Patria, at Balai The city of Jakarta was reported by Antara, Tuesday, March 8

According to Riza Patria, the 942-DV project is a super-priority activity at the Water Resources Service through the construction of nine polders, four reservoirs, revitalization of two kalim and increasing vertical drainage (DV).

Based on information from the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, the nine polders to be built are in Kelapa Gading, Pulomas, Muara Angke, Teluk Gong, Mangga Dua, Green Garden, Marunda JGC, Tipala-Adhyaksa, and Kamal.

Meanwhile, the four reservoirs built are in Brigif, Lebak Bulus, Pondok Ranggon, and Wirajasa.

Meanwhile, the two rivers that are being revitalized are the construction of infrastructure and facilities, namely the Muara Bahari - Kali Besar and Ciliwung - Pasar Baru waterways.

According to Riza, this polder system is carried out to deal with floods or tidal waves with complete physical facilities including regional drainage systems, retention ponds, embankments around the area, pumps and sluice gates, as an integral part of water management.

In addition, river revitalization is to increase water discharge capacity, while construction of vertical drainage is to improve groundwater quality, increase raw water sources and reduce channel loads.

The flood control program chosen by DKI Governor Anies Baswedan did not rely on river normalization, in contrast to the choice of Governors Joko Widodo and Basuki Tjahaja Purnama who normalized the Ciliwung River along a length of 16 kilometers.

Nevertheless, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government claims that the normalization program through land acquisition will continue in stages.

Head of the DKI Jakarta SDA Agency, Yusmada Faizal, said that currently one of the seven priority land areas is being carried out normalization steps with land acquisition efforts, namely in Cawang Village, East Jakarta.

"Yes, it's still going on. There has been land acquisition. I reported earlier, that in Cawang we freed up, we started (normalization) with the Ministry of PUPR," said Yusmada in Jakarta, Tuesday (1/3).
