Bad News For Sukabumi Residents, 47 Districts Entered Red Zone Disasters Starting From Floods, Landslides And Earthquakes

SUKABUMI - Bad news for Sukabumi residents. Apparently 47 sub-districts in Sukabumi Regency, West Java have disaster red zone status. Starting from floods, landslides, strong winds or tornadoes, ground movements, earthquakes and others.

"All sub-districts are prone to disasters, but what distinguishes the types of disasters such as in some sub-districts prone to flooding, other sub-districts strong winds and so on. People must always be vigilant," said Sukabumi Regent Marwan Hamami in Sukabumi quoted from Antara, Tuesday, March 8 .

According to Marwan, disasters can come at any time and cannot be predicted. Therefore, residents must always be vigilant, especially the weather conditions that rain every day can trigger floods, landslides, strong winds and ground movement.

In the last few days, four sub-districts in Sukabumi, Palabuhanratu, Curugkembar, Cisolok and Cikakak districts were hit by a landslide that caused hundreds of people to flee because their houses were badly damaged.

Currently, a team from Geology is conducting research and data collection related to land movement disasters. The results will later be used as a formula to determine future policies, whether locations affected by land movement of residents should be relocated or not.

"This research is to find out the cause of the movement of land and when it has been studied how the actions that must be taken will be made a policy," he added.

On the other hand, information gathered from the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Sukabumi Regency, the impact of the landslide disaster in five villages in four sub-districts as many as 58 houses were heavily damaged, 69 units were moderately damaged and 64 were lightly damaged.

While the number of people affected was 196 people from 52 families who were displaced and for those affected as many as 202 families or 807 people. It is likely that the number of affected residents will continue to increase because of this land movement disaster which is increasingly widespread.
