Netizens Spotlight On Sale Of Cheap Cooking Oil Of Rp10,000/liter PSI, 'Where Did You Get That Many Barrels From?'

JAKARTA - The selling of cooking oil at a low price by the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) has received mixed attention from netizens. This is because the sale of cooking oil is carried out in the midst of a shortage.

Video selling cheap cooking oil was uploaded on the official DPP PSI Twitter account @psi_id. It is said that cooking oil is sold at a price of Rp. 10,000 per liter. In the description on the 0.30 second video, PSI stated that the sale was made in Cibarusah District.

"Cooking oil is still scarce. DPD PSI Bekasi Regency is holding a cheap market in Cibarusah District. Hundreds of liters of cooking oil are sold at a price of Rp. 10 thousand per liter. Come to work for the people!" write account.

This post received many responses from netizens. How is it possible, in the midst of the current oil scarcity, PSI actually has access to cooking oil and sells it to residents. "Where did you get that much cooking oil from," asked one netizen on the PSI account.

The chairman of the Bekasi Regency PSI DPD, Muhammad Syahril, gave answers to netizens' questions and expectations. According to him, the fried noodles were obtained from several traders spread across Bekasi Regency.

"More than 10 traders we buy alternately, and the price we pay is also the current selling price (not the price of government subsidies). On average we buy cooking oil from traders at a price of Rp. 17,000 to Rp. 18 thousand per liter," said Syahril via the Facebook account @Muhammad Syahril.

Proceeds from purchases from traders are resold to residents at a subsidized price of IDR 7-8 thousand per liter. In fact, continued Syahril, cooking oil subsidies could be Rp. 10,000 per liter.

"The funds for the subsidy are the result of the collection from the management, cadres and also sympathizers who routinely send donations to the Bekasi Regency PSI DPD account. And thank God, we have sold almost 2000 liters at a subsidized price so far,"
