JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) revealed that Russia's invasion of Ukraine caused millions of people to flee to other countries. He said the endless conflict in Ukraine would trigger the worst refugee crisis in history.

Jokowi conveyed this via his Twitter account, @jokowi, Tuesday, March 8. He was concerned that major humanitarian problems would arise if Russia's invasion of Ukraine was not stopped.

"According to UNHCR, 1.2 million people have had to flee to other countries because of the war in Ukraine. If the crisis continues, there will undoubtedly be "the biggest refugee crisis of the century". This is what we must all prevent from happening", said Jokowi.

Jokowi views the falling civilian casualties and the increasing number of refugees as a result of the failure of the ceasefire agreement.

"The failure of the ceasefire agreement in Ukraine has not only led to the escalation of the armed conflict but the increasing number of casualties and the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine", he said.

According to him, war is not a solution. Other ways can be taken to resolve conflicts that occur without highlighting the ego and power of a country in the world.

"War is a matter of ego, forgetting the human side, and only highlighting interests and power", he said.

As is known, Russia decided to invade Ukraine on February 24. The escalation of the conflict began when several cities in Ukraine including Odesa, Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Mariupol were hit by Russian military explosions.

Until now, the conflict in Ukraine is still heating up. Recently, Russian President Vladimir Putin released several names of countries considered to be opposite Russia in the invasion of Ukraine.
