Has Permanent Legal Force, Former Managing Director Of Sarana Jaya Immediately Executed In Prison

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has not appealed the Jakarta Corruption Court's verdict against the former President Director of Perumda Pembangunan Sarana Jaya, Yoory Corneles Pinontoan.

Yoory will soon be executed to a correctional institution (lapas) to serve his sentence.

"For now, the case with the defendant Yoory C has permanent legal force," said Acting Spokesperson for the KPK for Enforcement, Ali Fikri in a written statement quoted on Tuesday, March 8.

Ali said that the KPK, through the executor of the prosecutor, was now preparing to carry out the execution. However, he has not explained in which prison Yoory will serve his sentence.

"The executor of the KPK will immediately prepare for the execution process. For the other defendants, they will be informed again," he said.

As previously reported, the Jakarta Corruption Court has sentenced Yoory Corneles to 6.5 years in prison plus a fine of Rp. 500 million, subsidiary to 6 months in prison.

Yoory was proven guilty of corruption in the land acquisition for the "DP 0 Rupiah Residential" project in Munjul, East Jakarta, which cost the state Rp152.565 billion.

"The defendant is sentenced to imprisonment for 6 years and 6 months and a fine of Rp. 500 million, which if not paid will be replaced with imprisonment for 6 months," said Chief Justice Saifuddin Zuhri at the Jakarta Corruption Crime Court (Tipikor), as reported by Antara, Thursday, February 24.

The verdict is lower than the demands of the KPK Public Prosecutor (JPU) who requested that Yorry be sentenced to 6 years and 8 months in prison plus a fine of Rp. 1 billion, subsidiary to 6 months in prison.

The verdict is based on the first indictment of Article 2 paragraph (1) of Law Jo. Article 18 No. 31 of 1999 as amended by Law no. 20 of 2001 concerning the Eradication of Corruption Crimes Jo. Article 55 paragraph (1) of the 1st Criminal Code Jo. Article 64 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code.
