Kendari Mayor Asks Police To Take Action Against ASN Who Consume Drugs

KENDARI - Kendari Mayor Sulkarnain Kadir handed over to law enforcement officials to take action against the Kendari City Government civil servants (ASN) suspected of being involved in cases of abuse and illicit trafficking of methamphetamine.

"For this case, I leave it to law enforcement. Please proceed with the applicable provisions," he said in Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi, Monday night, March 7.

He regretted the involvement of Kendari City Government ASN for the abuse and illicit trafficking of drugs.

An ASN should be able to set an example and role model to the community, one of which is by eradicating the abuse and circulation of illicit goods, he added.

"Of course, we regret it because as a civil servant, the state should set a good example to the community," he said.

If the ASN is proven guilty of being involved in the abuse and illicit trafficking of narcotics, then severe sanctions will be imposed on the employee, he stressed.

"Let us use the court's decision later as a reference. Please proceed with the legal process. If it is truly proven, then, of course, there will be severe sanctions that will be imposed on the person concerned," he said.

He hopes that no more ASN will be arrested by the police for being involved in criminal acts of abuse and illicit drug trafficking.

"And I once again warn all levels of the Kendari City Government, all ASN within the Kendari City Government, this is enough for the last one; because of course it is not very good for our society," he said.

Meanwhile, the Kendari Police Narcotics Investigation Unit arrested a Kendari City Government civil servant (ASN) for allegedly being involved in the abuse and illicit trafficking of methamphetamine.

Deputy Chief of the Kendari City Police, Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Alwi, said the suspect with the initials SAT (32) was arrested Thursday (24/2) in the suspect's boarding house on Bunga Seroja street, Lahundape Village, West Kendari District.

"We have arrested a male suspect with the initials SAT, 32 years old, an ASN occupation, with evidence of two sachets or packages of suspected 2.98 grams of methamphetamine," said Alwi, Monday.

The arrest was initiated from public information about drug abuse and illicit trafficking in the area, so the police conducted an investigation and succeeded in arresting the suspect.

"So in accordance with the investigation conducted by the Narcotics Unit of the Kendari Police, the person concerned is both a user and a network," he said.

Now, the suspect and evidence are at the Kendari Police for further investigation and development.

The suspect was charged with Article 114 paragraph (2) subsidiary Article 112 paragraph (2) of the RI Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics with the threat of a death sentence of life imprisonment or imprisonment for a minimum of six years and a maximum of 20 years.
