TARAKAN - The Indonesian Navy's Main Base (Lantamal) XIII managed to thwart the shipment of thousands of illegal cosmetics without a distribution permit.

"The discovery of illegal cosmetics began with the inspection of SB Bunyu Express 02, which was carrying out a voyage from the Mosquito River to Tarakan Fishery Port last Wednesday," said Lantamal XIII Commander First Admiral Fauzi in Tarakan, North Kalimantan, Antara, Monday, March 7.

The failure of the illegal cosmetic shipment began when the Mambirdan II - 13-47 ship which was patrolling the Tarakan waters stopped the speed boat Bunyu Express 02 for inspection. During the examination, 22 bags of cosmetics were found.

"Illegal products are suspected to have come from Malaysia and the Philippines that entered Indonesian territory through Sebatik and Nunukan, then by traders they are promoted online and the products are distributed to buyers through expedition services," said Fauzi.

The results of product identification with BPOM Tarakan City, found 2,228 pcs of cosmetics that did not have a distribution permit, 244 pcs of food products, four pcs of traditional medicines were declared not to have distribution permits.

"Furthermore, the evidence will be submitted to the Civil Servant Investigator (PPNS) of the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) of Tarakan City for further treatment in accordance with applicable legal provisions," said Fauzi.
