South Sumatra Police Arrest 55 Drug Trafficking Suspects

SOUTH SUMATERA - The Directorate of Drug Investigation of the South Sumatra Police in the first week of March 2022 arrested 55 suspected traffickers, one interprovincial network drug dealer, and two users of the prohibited items.

The suspects from the disclosure of 47 drug cases were arrested with evidence of 4.4 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, 11.2 kg of dried marijuana leaves, and 1,260 pills of ecstasy, said Head of Public Relations of the South Sumatra Police Kombes Supriadi, in Palembang, as reported by Antara, Monday, March 7th.

According to him, by preventing the circulation of evidence of marijuana, ecstasy pills, and methamphetamine which were secured from the suspects, 40,258 children of the nation could be saved from the influence of these prohibited items.

Seeing the high disclosure of drug cases, he said, according to the order of the South Sumatra Police Chief, Inspector General Toni Harmanto, all members were asked to work hard to suppress drug trafficking in this province.

"Members are ordered to continue to work hard to eradicate drug trafficking and abuse, as well as to ensure that the younger generation is safe from the entanglement of these illicit goods", he said.

The Director of Narcotics and Drugs at the South Sumatra Police and their ranks continue to try to keep the young generation in this province away from drug entanglements, he explained.

To ensure the younger generation is safe from drug entanglement, he said, his party will not stop taking action.

"We will not stop carrying out drug eradication operations and take firm action against anyone who is proven to have stored, circulated, and consumed the prohibited goods", he said.
