Jusuf Kalla Reminds PMI To Help The Government Perform 3T And Vaccination For COVID-19

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) Center Jusuf Kalla reminded PMI officers of their new duties during the COVID-19 pandemic. One of them is PMI whose task is to help the government suppress cases of the spread of COVID-19 through 3T, namely tracing or tracing, testing or examination, and treatment or handling.

"Also ensuring that all levels of society implement the health protocol (prokes) to prevent the transmission and spread of COVID-19 in the form of 5M, namely wearing masks, washing hands, keeping distance, reducing crowds, and reducing mobility," he said while reviewing the implementation of the COVID-19 vaccination at PMI Headquarters. Central Sulawesi Province in Palu City, as quoted by Antara, Sunday, March 6.

In addition, he continued, PMI also has a role in carrying out COVID-19 vaccinations to help central and local governments achieve herd immunity or group immunity from exposure to the virus.

The former Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia hopes that PMI from the provincial, city to district levels will always remember this and continue to carry out 3T, 5M, and vaccinations until the COVID-19 pandemic ends.

"It has been more than two years that our country has been hit by COVID-19. Many people have died after being exposed to COVID-19 and not a few have recovered. To overcome the COVID-19 pandemic, we implement the 3T, 5M Health Protocol, and vaccinations," he said.

In addition, Jusuf Kalla stated that the COVID-19 vaccination target could be achieved if all parties cooperated.

Starting from the local government, the Indonesian National Army (TNI), the police, relevant stakeholders to the community must work together to create herd immunity.

"The COVID-19 vaccination has been launched starting in 2020. PMI also has a duty to overcome COVID-19 through vaccination activities. This effort requires the cooperation of all parties, not just PMI," he added.
