Landslides Happen Again In Talamau Pasaman Barat

Another landslide occurred in Polong Anam Talu, Talamau District, West Pasaman Regency, causing traffic access to be completely cut off, Saturday. (5/3).

SIMPANG EMPAT - Another landslide hit the Polong Anam Nagari Talamau area, West Pasaman Regency, West Sumatra. Landslides caused traffic flow to be completely cut off.

"The landslide occurred at around 10.20 WIB and as of this afternoon the landslide material had not been cleaned up," said Talamau Sector Police Chief AKP Junaidi as quoted by Antara, Saturday, March 5.

According to him, aftershocks continued to occur after the earthquake. Previously in Rimbo Crime Kajai.

"The landslide material was about 15 meters and piled up the road, so transportation access was completely cut off to the Nagari Kajai Long Bridge," he said.

He said that for the time being he could not approach the location of the landslide, because the condition of the material debris was likely to increase.

"We did not dare to approach the location, earlier when we were checking the field, we heard a sound from the top of the hill, as if material was about to collapse. There were also cracks on the hill," continued AKP Junaidi.

His party has contacted the government to immediately lower heavy equipment in the form of excavators to clean the material on the road.

"We have contacted the government to immediately send excavators to clean the material covering the road," he explained.

AKP Junaidi said that currently Talamau Sub-district is experiencing heavy rain, in addition, the electric current went out after the landslide. Meanwhile, the landslide caused transportation access to be completely cut off from the direction of Talu to Timbo Abu Kajai, so that the supply of aid for earthquake victims was disrupted.

"We also urge motorists to increase their vigilance when passing through hilly areas in Talu because landslides do not know when they will occur," he appealed.

In addition, due to the landslide, the car from the Pasaman Panti that brought aid for earthquake victims to the Timbo Abu Kajai Preparation Village was disturbed.

According to him, if this matter is not immediately followed up, it is feared that the residents in the refugee camp will be late in getting help from volunteers or donors from outside the area.

"We hope that this will be handled immediately and we also urge residents and motorists to be careful when crossing hilly areas and continue to increase self-awareness," said AKP Junaidi.
