CIANJUR - The joint SAR team finally found the bodies of fishermen on the south coast of Cianjur Regency, West Java, which were reported missing by the waves while looking for fish in Cidamar Waters, Cidaun District.

The body of Wahyudin (40), a resident of Babakan Village, Cidamar Village, Cidaun District, was found by several residents in the Ciwidig Waters, which is 2 kilometers from the initial location of the victim who was reported missing by the waves.

"The victim's body was found by a resident in Ciwidig Waters, Kertajadi Village. The victim's body was immediately taken to the local health center for an external examination before being brought by the family for burial," said Head of the Cianjur Police Water Unit, AKP Heri, quoted by Antara, Saturday, March 5.

AKP Heri explained that in the first line of the search for the SAR team, there were problems due to extreme weather with high waves, so that navigating to the middle of the sea could not be carried out because it could threaten the safety of the joint SAR team consisting of Satpol Air, BPBD, Bandung SAR and local fishermen.

"We continue to urge fishermen and local residents to avoid the beach because extreme weather with high waves, plus heavy rainfall with an intensity of more than two hours is still common," he said.

Previously, a fisherman on the southern coast of Cianjur, was reported missing by the waves. While looking for fish on the beach, the Cianjur Water Police and a joint team were still searching.

AKP Heri said the victim, Wahyudin (40), a resident of Babakan Village, Cidamar Village, Cidaun District, was reported to have been carried away by sudden high waves on Friday (4/3) morning, even though the weather was sunny.

"The victim and several other fishermen were fishing on the outskirts, but they were separated from the other fishermen. The waves were suddenly high because it was high tide. The victim's body was immediately dragged into the middle of the sea," said Heri.
