JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) confirms that the investigation into the alleged corruption of the Central Lampung Special Allocation Fund (DAK) continues. The bribe given by former Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives Azis Syamsuddin to former KPK investigator Stepanus Robin Pattuju did not affect this process.

"(The investigation, ed) is still ongoing, not stopping. Then yesterday it was proven that bribes were given with the aim of stopping the investigation process, but once again we emphasize that the investigation process will not stop," said Acting KPK Spokesperson for Enforcement Sector Ali Fikri quoted from the KPK RI YouTube, Saturday, March 5.

Ali said this investigation did take time. This is because the collection of materials and information is still being carried out before ensnaring the suspects.

The public is asked to be patient waiting for the follow-up of this alleged corruption. All information or developments, continued Ali, will definitely be conveyed.

"We make sure that so far the investigation is still ongoing. This means that the collection of information material will continue until it is concluded whether there is someone who can be legally responsible," he said.

"Of course, later we will convey the progress to the community," added Ali.

As previously reported, Azis Syamsuddin was sentenced to 3.5 years in prison and a fine of IDR 250 million, subsidiary to four months in prison. In addition, Azis' political rights were also revoked for four years from the time he finished serving his prison term.

He was proven to have given bribes worth IDR 3,099 billion and USD 36,000, bringing the total to around IDR 3,619 billion, to former Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigator Stepanus Robin Pattuju and advocate Maskur Husain. The goal is to take care of the case involving him and Aliza Gunado in Central Lampung. The verdict is lower than the demands of the KPK Public Prosecutor (JPU) who requested that Azis be sentenced to four years and two months in prison, plus a fine of IDR 250 million subsidiary to six months in prison.
