CIKARANG - The Bekasi Regency Government, West Java has decided to hold a Limited Face-to-face Learning (PTM) in education units starting next week after obtaining approval from the local health office.

"Insha Allah, PTM will be limited, starting Monday, March 7, 2022. Distance learning is felt to be less effective, especially since students will be taking UTS (mid-semester exams) soon," said Head of the Bekasi Regency Education Office, Carwinda, in Cikarang, as quoted by Antara, Friday, March 4.

He said the decision to re-implement PTM was limited in his area after his party coordinated with the health office regarding the current condition of the COVID-19 case.

"The results of our coordination with the health office regarding the condition of the latest COVID-19 cases are declared to have decreased relatively, residents with the status of being vaccinated also continue to grow. The implementation of the program at the Limited PTM will be monitored continuously by the health department and the COVID-19 task force," he said.

The implementation of Limited PTM activities during the COVID-19 pandemic in Bekasi Regency refers to the Regent's Circular Number: DK.07.03/SE-21/Disdik which is enforced at the PAUD/RA, SD/MI, SMP/MTS, SMA/SMK/MA levels, and equality education.

The circular regulates a number of provisions for the implementation of Limited PTM in Bekasi Regency, among others, giving parents/guardians the choice to allow their children to participate in Limited PTM or distance learning.

Then the obligation to implement health protocols in the education unit environment, such as the use of the QR PeduliLindung application, disinfection before carrying out activities, providing promotional media for COVID-19 prevention, as well as the availability of air circulation in all rooms and open ventilation.

"Make sure all are in good health, take body temperature, wash hands and sanitize and are required to maintain distance and wear masks," he said.

Teachers, school employees, and students are also required to have vaccinated against COVID-19 until the second dose is proven by a vaccine certificate and conduct regular health screenings.

"If someone is found with symptoms of COVID-19, immediately report it to a health service facility. Learning activities are stopped if the school is proven to have violated health protocols," he said.

Carwinda ensured that PTM Limited would also be temporarily suspended for 14 days if a positive confirmed case of COVID-19 was found with a cluster of transmission conditions occurring in the education unit resulting in an increase in the positivity rate of five percent or more.

"However, if it is proven that it does not cause the cluster or the positivity rate to be below five percent, the temporary suspension of PTM Limited is carried out for five days. During this temporary suspension, the education unit carries out distance learning," he said.
