GBK Denies Not Fair About Senayan Parking Auction

JAKARTA - The management of Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) has denied that it is unfair in the auction process for the management of parking spaces at Senayan which is currently ongoing. The search for parking partners is considered to have been carried out according to procedures and rules.

"The specs (participant specifications and tender requirements) that have been agreed upon from the start are in accordance with the GBK minimum specs," said GBK's Director of Business Development and Development, Rofik Awnar, in his statement, quoted Friday, March 4.

Anyone, according to him, may participate in GBK parking management as long as they meet the requirements.

"Please, those who want to participate, who feel competent with the specifications, please participate in the auction, an auction for our common good," he said.

He made sure there was no attempt to support one bidder and then trip over another bidder.

"Nothing," he insisted.

Information about the alleged "playing wood" in the parking lot auction process was revealed by several sources who know the process. According to a source, there are a number of questions to be asked.

"We hope that the GBK will be open. How much turnover have they gotten from previous parking partners? Then why is there a problem parking partner who can be given another chance this year and why are the specs needed similar to those that exist today?" said the source who asked not to be named.

He continued that tender participants were also not given sufficient time to analyze the projected size of the transaction at that location.

Another source mentioned the name of the parking partner who he said was problematic. According to him, during operation, it was suspected that the partner did not have a parking permit and had not paid the local parking tax, which would be detrimental to the DKI Provincial Government.

"But how come they were given another chance. It's as if it's been locked, who will win?," he continued and also asked to remain anonymous.

According to the information he got, the parking management business at a location in the heart of the capital was indeed lucrative.

"Imagine how much tax DKI receives if parking partners obey paying taxes. Also, if the chosen one is a more professional partner, Senayan visitors can get more benefits," he concluded.
