TANJUNGPINANG - The Head of the Riau Islands Tourism Office, Buralimar, revealed that as many as 800 foreign tourists (tourists) from Singapore are scheduled to visit Nongsa Sensation, Batam City and Lagoi, Bintan Regency with a "travel bubble" travel bubble scheme until May 2022.

"The tourists have booked tickets to visit Batam and Bintan in the near future until May 2022," said Buralimar in Tanjungpinang, as reported by Antara, Friday, March 4.

Buralimar detailed that out of a total of 800 foreign tourists, as many as 300 people will come to Nongsa Sensation, Batam City. Meanwhile, the remaining 500 people will visit the Lagoi tourist area, Bintan Regency.

"Everything departs from Singapore's Tanah Merah port," he said.

Buralimar also said that in the period 23-25 February 2022, there were 50 foreign tourists from Singapore who came to visit Nongsa Sensation, Batam City.

Meanwhile, the number of foreign tourists to Bintan until February 26 has reached 90 people.

"This is the first foreign tourist visit after two years of the pandemic," said Buralimar.

Buralimar also said the results of the evaluation of the inaugural foreign tourist visit, so far it has been running safely and smoothly.

"No foreign tourists have been found to be exposed to COVID-19," he said.

Meanwhile, Riau Islands Governor Ansar Ahmad hopes that the number of Singaporean foreign tourists visiting Riau Islands will increase to support the revival of the tourism world, which has been slumped for almost two years due to the pandemic.

Ansar also asked the Singapore government to increase the quota of foreign tourists visiting the Riau Islands from 300 people per week to 3,000 people per week.

"If now it is still limited to a maximum of 300 people per week, in the future it is hoped that it will continue to grow so that tourism can revive," said Ansar.
