JAKARTA - The General Election Commission (PKPU) Regulation Number 10 of 2020, which allows music concerts in the 2020 Pilkada campaign, is in the spotlight of Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian Parliament, Sufmi Ahmad Dasco.

It is known that there are two articles in PKPU that are of public concern, namely Article 63 and Article 59. In Article 63 PKPU Number 10 of 2020, seven types of activities are regulated which do not violate campaign prohibitions and statutory provisions. One of them is holding a music concert.

Meanwhile, Article 59 PKPU Number 10 of 2020 states that the public debate allows 50 supporters to remain present.

Dasco assessed that although PKPU does not prohibit music concerts in the Pilkada, things that cause a crowd of people should be avoided. Because it is still in the atmosphere of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"I myself think that concerts like that should be avoided," Dasco told reporters in Jakarta, Wednesday, September 16.

In addition, Dasco also asked the election organizers, namely the KPU, to pay attention to conditions in the regions and zoning, before they give permission to carry out campaign activities that have the potential to cause crowds.

"So it is a consideration to allow or not allow," he said.

Previously, the Task Force for Handling COVID-19 had also highlighted this because it was considered to have the potential to increase the transmission of COVID-19.

"Regarding whether music concerts and competitions are still allowed in Article 63 PKPU Number 10 of 2020. There may be mass gatherings and processions," said Deputy for System and Strategy of BNPB Wisnu Widjaja in a virtual discussion, Tuesday, September 15.

In addition, Wisnu also highlighted other allowed campaign activities in the form of public debates and general meetings. According to him, the KPU needs to pay attention to the implementation of a safe distance for everyone who participates in these activities.

Wisnu asked the KPU to be more careful in drafting more technical regulations regarding campaign implementation.

It is known, the 2020 Simultaneous Continuous Pilkada campaign period was carried out for 71 days with a number of stages. From September 26 to December 5, 2020, candidates for regional head are welcome to conduct limited meeting campaigns, face-to-face campaigns, disseminate campaign materials, install campaign tools, including campaign activities on social media and online.

Then, from September 26 to December 5, regional head candidates are also allowed to participate in public debates between candidate pairs.

Then from November 22 to December 5, regional head candidates may post campaign advertisements through mass, print and electronic media.
