JAKARTA - Commissioner of the National Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM) Choirul Anam said his party had obtained the names of TNI-Polri personnel who were suspected of committing violence against residents of human cages at the house of the Langkat Regent.

Anam said the name was obtained after his team, which was dispatched directly to Langkat, North Sumatra, found the involvement of TNI-Polri personnel.

"We received information that several members of the TNI-Polri were involved in the cage process," Anam said at a press conference broadcast on the Indonesian Human Rights Commission's Public Relations YouTube, Wednesday, March 2.

Not only pocketing the name, Anam said that his party already knew the rank and other supporting information. This includes the number of persons suspected of participating in the violence.

"We know the number and names of each and other supporting information including rank and so on," he said.

Anam said that the TNI-Polri officers were suspected of committing violence and degrading dignity. Not only that, there are also police officers who suggest criminals to be residents of human cages at Terbit's house and an investigation is currently being carried out.

Returning to the matter of the violence that was committed, the TNI-Polri person had mentioned to the residents that this was a form of physical exercise. One of them is by asking to do the monkey hanging position.

"So if you say, for example, physical training, then continue to share about the methodology of physical exercise, including hanging monkeys for example," he said.

On this finding, Anam said, Komnas HAM had written to the relevant agencies to conduct further investigations. Thus, the involvement of the TNI-Polri elements can be revealed.

"We are also coordinating with friends of the TNI AD, especially the POM TNI AD. We have sent a letter to the POM TNI AD asking for help in conducting an investigation and investigation because there are TNI personnel involved in the cage," he concluded.
