SERANG – Heavy rains that have occurred since Monday 28 February have damaged hundreds of houses and fallen trees due to flooding in Serang City since Monday 28 February. The Head of Public Relations of the Banten Police, Kombes Pol. Shinto Silitonga, said that flooding caused by high rainfall did not only occur in Serang, but Pandeglang Regency was also affected.

"According to the results of the analysis and evaluation from the Banten Police Bureau of Operations, the flooding affected 12 sub-districts, 22 villages, 3,960 houses were inundated and there were around 700 refugees. And 5 people died," explained Shinto Silitonga to reporters, Wednesday, March 2.

For the Serang City area that was affected by the flood, there were 5 sub-districts, namely in Kasemen, Serang, Cipocok Jaya, Taktakan and Curug sub-districts as well as 5 villages, 2,203 houses, 700 refugees and 5 people who died. As for the Pandeglang Regency area, the impact is in 7 sub-districts, namely in Labuan, Cadasari, Patia, Saketi, Pandeglang, Mandalawangi, Pulosari sub-districts, as well as 17 villages and 1,757 houses.

In response to the flood disaster, the Banten Police deployed 511 personnel, providing assistance and services to flood-affected communities, both in Serang City and Pandeglang Regency.

"The equipment used to evacuate the victims included 2 double cabins, 1 bus, 1 ambulance, 2 rubber boats and other SAR equipment, as well as Banten Police Biddokes personnel providing health services for the community in the form of providing medicines and vitamins," said Shinto Silitonga. .

In addition, the Banten Police have set up several refugee tents and prepared a field kitchen to serve the consumption of the flood-affected community.

There were 4 fallen trees that occurred in the Serang City area, including 1 in Terumbu Village, Kasemen District, and 2 other incidents in Kasemen Village, Kasemen District, as well as 1 fallen tree in Lontar Baru Village, Serang District.

"There are houses that were destroyed by the flood, namely in the Legok neighborhood, Drangong sub-district, Taktakan sub-district, including 2 houses that were swept away by the river in Kasemen which went viral on social media," said Shinto Silitonga.

According to field observations, the dominant flood location has receded and people have started cleaning their houses.
