West Lombok Police Patrol Villages At Prone Hours Ahead Of MotoGP

WEST LOMBOK - West Lombok Police, West Nusa Tenggara, deployed the 8 Sat Puma Team to patrol villages during crime-prone hours to maintain public security and order (kamtibmas) ahead of the Mandalika MotoGP.

"Patrols are an effort to eliminate disturbances to the security and social order, including anticipating theft and other criminal acts as well as preventing illegal racing," said West Lombok Police Chief AKBP Wirasto Adi Nugroho, in West Lombok Regency, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, March 1.

The patrol was used to convey appeals to the public regarding the application of health protocol discipline to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

For the initial patrol locations, said Wirasto, the Puma 8 Sat Team combed around Kuranji Village to monitor the situation during crime-prone hours.

There were only a number of local residents who were fishing in the area, but they were still advised to always increase their vigilance to prevent unwanted things from happening.

After confirming that the situation was still conducive, the patrol shifted to Terong Tawah Village. In this densely populated residential area, the officers reminded the night security guards to stay alert and report to the police if they found anything suspicious.

The Puma 8 Sat team also patrolled the Jagerage Indah Village. In that area, vehicle inspections and body searches were carried out on a group of youths who were still hanging out at vulnerable hours. However, no dangerous items were found.

"We advise the youths to immediately leave the place and return to their respective homes," said Wirasto.
