JAKARTA - The National Police said they would evaluate the congestion that occurred in the Puncak area, Bogor, during the long holiday last week. This evaluation is to prevent long traffic jams from happening again.

"Bogor traffic jams are part of a comprehensive evaluation," said the Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police, Inspector General Dedi Prasetyo, to reporters at TNI Headquarters, Tuesday, March 1.

In the evaluation process, the Police do not only discuss traffic. This is because other factors that cause long traffic jams will also be included in the evaluation.

"So not only in terms of traffic, but from other sides this is also part of the evaluation," said Dedi.

With the evaluation, continued Dedi, it is hoped that the long traffic jam will not repeat itself. This is because the current situation is still a COVID-19 pandemic.

"So that when there is a long holiday season, things like that can be anticipated early," said Dedi.

West Java Police Chief Inspector General Suntana said the severe traffic jam on the Puncak Line, Bogor Regency, on Sunday, February 27, was due to 10 vehicles breaking down while passing.

"Yesterday there was a density because there were several vehicles that broke down in the middle of the road. There were about 10 vehicles which resulted in quite a long queue," he said at Simpang Gadog, Ciawi, Bogor.

Inspector General Suntana said that around 80,000 vehicles had entered the Puncak and Sukabumi areas from the Ciawi toll gate since Saturday, February 26. While from the opposite direction there are about 50 thousand vehicles.

"There are more than 50 thousand who have re-entered the Ciawi Toll Road towards Jakarta, so that the remaining 27 thousand (vehicles) are on the Puncak or Sukabumi route," said Suntana.
