JAKARTA - The government has extended the implementation of restrictions on community activities (PPKM) in Java-Bali and outside Java-Bali.

The extension of the Java-Bali PPKM as stated in the Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs (Inmendagri) Number 14 of 2022 applies from March 1 to 7, 2022, while the PPKM outside Java-Bali as stated in (Inmendagri) Number 14 of 2022 applies from 1 to 14 March 2022.

The Director-General of Regional Administration of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Safrizal ZA, revealed that there was an increase in the number of regions implementing PPKM Level 4 from 4 to 7 regions, namely Cilegon City, Sukabumi City, Cirebon City, Tegal City, Salatiga City, Magelang City, and Madiun City.

In addition, the number of regions implementing PPKM Level 3 has also increased. Meanwhile, PPKM Level 2 areas decreased and no area in Java and Bali implemented PPKM Level 1.

"There has been an increase at Level 3 from 99 regions to 108 regions. Meanwhile, regions at Level 2 have decreased from 25 regions to 13 regions, and there are still no regions at Level 1," said Safrizal in his statement, Tuesday, March 1.

In PPKM outside Java-Bali, the area where the assessment was tightened to level 3 also increased. On the other hand, regions that have implemented PPKM Level 2 and 1 have decreased.

"For PPKM arrangements outside Java-Bali, there is an increase in the number of regions located at Level 3 from 118 regions to 320 regions. Meanwhile, the number of regions at PPKM Level 2 from 205 regions to 63 regions and Level 1 has decreased from 63 regions to 3 regions," Safrizal said.

Safrizal revealed that the increase in the PPKM assessment level in the Java-Bali area was partly due to the minimum coverage of the second dose of COVID-19 vaccination, which had to be high, had not been achieved in that area.

Meanwhile, the regional level assessment on the extension of PPKM Outside Java and Bali still uses the same vaccination indicators, namely the total achievement of the second dose of vaccination and the vaccination of the elderly over 60 years of age in the first dose.

“Objectively, if we look at the number of regions at Level 3 and 4, there has been an increase, it's because of the stricter vaccination requirements as an effort to accelerate vaccination in all regions. But we are optimistic that the upward trend will decrease starting next week in line with the sloping down of confirmed cases," he explained.

On that occasion, Syafrizal revealed that the PPKM rules did not change during the extension period this time. For example, the rules for restricting activities in public places require proof of vaccination certificates for children aged 6 to 12 years.

In line with that, Safrizal pushed for the acceleration of vaccination for areas whose achievements were still below 70 percent in the first dose and below 50 percent in the second dose.
