PBNU Chairman KH Yahya Participates In Comments On The Proposed Postponement Of The 2024 Election, This Is What He's Requested

JAKARTA - The chairman of the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (PBNU) KH Yahya Cholil Staquf requested that a dialogue be held together regarding the proposed postponement of the 2024 General Election, considering the various problems the nation has faced in recent times.

"There is a proposal to postpone the election and I think this makes sense considering the various problems that have arisen and are being faced by this nation," he said at the Darussalam Islamic Boarding School in Pinagar, as reported by Antara, Sunday, February 27.

According to him, the proposed postponement of the election can be shared by all parties to find the best solution for this nation.

"Later we will see what needs to be done to reduce the burden on this nation," he said. He said all of them could see the many trials that came repeatedly and disasters that occurred not only in Indonesia, but also throughout the world.

Starting from the COVID-19 pandemic and then flooding some time ago and the earthquake at this time, it is indeed a difficult situation not only for Indonesia, but the world.

"The key is to be flexible and tenacious, in order to be able to overcome the existing burden," he said.

Moreover, the current regional government continues to adjust to their APBD because the disaster issue is not well explained and must be adjusted. The head of PBNU Yahya Cholil Tsaquf visited the location of the West Pasaman earthquake that occurred on Friday morning with a magnitude of 6.2 on the Richter scale.

This earthquake had an impact ranging from residents died, houses and buildings collapsed which resulted in residents fleeing to save themselves.

He was accompanied by the Deputy Secretary General of the PBNU Suleman Tanjung, the Head of the Regional Office of the West Sumatra Ministry of Religion Helmi and others visited the Darussalam Pinagar Islamic Boarding School, West Pasaman Regency, which was affected by the earthquake.
